Classic Plastic
Model Cars From The 1940/1950s
Short history
of Dimestore Dreams and American Dimestore model cars
The Dimestore
Dreams model cars were introduced in 2000 at the New York Toy Fair. A
substantial number of model cars were introduced, as well as three motorbikes
and a sci-fi rocket model. The models were all copies of US toys made during the
40's and 50's and were reckoned to be the first plastic model cars. In 2003 the
Dimestore Dreams line was deleted and the molds were sold to Bill Hanlon, who
started a new company called American Dimestore in 2005.
American Dimestore
released 18 new models in 2005 and in 2008 the company incl. remaining stocks
and all tooling was acquired by BBMC/Toydetective of
Holland.

American
Dimestore releases and additional products
There is some
exciting news for American Dimestore collectors as we plan to release some new American Dimestore car models in 2012/2013!
We will also offer
a whole range of vintage dimestore toys for collectors under the American
Dimestore trademark. These toys are 50's, 60's and 70's vintage plastic toys we
found in recent years. They will be repacked in bags with American Dimestore
header cards or cardboard boxes including full product information, including time of production,
manufacturer (if known) and country of origin.
Remaining stock
We still have
stock of 13 of the 18 original released American Dimestore models, but some
models are very low on stock. Stocks of Dimestore Dreams models are very
limited.
Prototypes
Together with the
molds and remaining stock we also acquired the Dimestore Dreams and American
Dimestore company archives, with loads of pre-production models and prototypes.
These models are often one-offs. Most of them come with a certificate of
authenticity.
